Please note that the Draft Reid Road Reservoir Quarry Environmental Assessment (RRRQ EA) Comprehensive Work Plan is now available at the bottom of this post as well as under the 'EA Documents' tab of the 'Reports & Documents' page. Hard copies are available for viewing at the Town of Milton (150 Mary Street, Milton) and Region of Halton (1151 Bronte Road, Oakville) municipal buildings.
The purpose of this document is to describe the comprehensive work plan for carrying out the discipline-specific studies that will be conducted to assess the effects of the project on the environment, with a focus on alternative design (blasting) methods and alternative haul routes. The work plan has been prepared to meet the requirements of Section 7(3) of Ontario Regulation 539/21, with guidance from the evaluation Criteria and Indicators presented at the First Public Information Meeting held on December 6, 2023. Members of the public, agencies, Indigenous communities and other interested persons are invited to review and comment on the draft work plan as part of this stage of the EA process.
The draft work plan is being posted at this time in order to provide participants sufficient time to review the document and prepare questions prior and comments prior to the commenting deadline. A second Public Information Meeting (PIM2) will be held in Fall 2025 on a date to be announced soon – please check the project website regularly for updates. Once PIM2 is concluded, a one-month period will be made available during which comments on the draft work plan will be received. It is anticipated that the commenting period for the draft work plan will extend to December 19, 2025. Once consultation input on the draft work plan has been reconciled, the final draft document will be submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Parks and Conservation (MECP) Director of Environmental Assessment Branch for review and approval.
